On Thursday, July 19, 2007, the Community Outreach
Program (COP) will host its pilot Youth Leadership
Academy Program (YLAP). The YLAP is designed to promote
an educational experience that will provide students
with a greater understanding of the FBI's mission.
Through presentations and hands-on experiences, we seek
to further explain to our younger generation how the FBI
addresses the concerns of the community.
This one-day event, scheduled between the hours of 9:00
am and 5:00 pm, is taking place at the Chicago Field
Office, 2111 West Roosevelt Road, Chicago, IL. The class
will be comprised of students of different backgrounds
representing public, private and parochial high school
students in the Chicago area.
Students who
may be interested, they have to ask for an application and
additional forms to be mailed to them and their parents.
Additionally, a brief personal statement detailing "why
I should be a part of the YLAP" must be submitted as
well. A signature is required from a parent and/or
guardian, and the school's principal or guidance
counselor after the G.P.A. is verified. Send all
correspondence to me no later than Friday, June 15,
2007, to be considered for this class session.
The criteria for
the YLAP is as follows:
